The Actor's Workout

Acting is a moment-to-moment exploration of a prescribed life the actor experiences with infectious belief. As with any journey, preparation is the key to success.
The Actor’s Workout is designed for the development of the actor’s craft at every level. Rooted in the Stanislavski Method, the serious (and seriously curious) actor is guided in the discovery of his/her own unique approach to bringing a character to life.
As the actor develops the ability to apply their real-life experience and individual personality to the creation of every role, they also evolve to become their own unique – and engaging brand. Just like every other type of artist, the more an actor practices, the more capable, courageous – and engaging – their work becomes.
This is the goal of The Actor’s Workout for every actor with the passion to play their most amazing instrument: themselves.
A note about relaxation:
Tension is the greatest challenge an actor faces. Relaxation, an open body and mind ready to react (rather than pre-act) are essential in order for the actor to perform authentically moment to moment.
The Three workout structures:
1. The Basic Actor’s Workout is an eight week ongoing workshop for actors of all levels. Each eight week session addresses preparation, monologue work, scene study and exercises designed to help the actor grow in his/her confidence and ability. Workshops are held to small groups as every actor works at their own level, developing with individualized attention in concert with their needs as they progress in their practice. In the world, whether it be on screen or stage, actors are cast to work with others at different stages in their development and with individual approaches to the work. Just as an athlete keeps shooting the same hoops or throwing the same ball to refine their skill, the actor revisits exercises and scenes, each developing at their own pace. Actors are paired for scene work with partners that will best support their development during that period.
2. Specialized scene study intensives are available as determined throughout the actor’s development. These intensives take a deep dive approach to character development in context to a script’s entirety and are advised as workouts progress.
3. One on one private training is available, ideal for
· audition preparation
· individualized monologue work
· private coaching for specific project - stage, film or television
· deep-dive character development for personal growth

Schedule and Pricing:
The Actor’s Workout sessions are eight weeks, Six Mondays and Two Saturdays 7-10pm.
Each Session is $460, with early enrollment discounted to $420 if paid two weeks prior to first workout date of session. All sessions must be paid in full prior to start date.
SPECIAL KICKOFF DISCOUNT OF $100, PAY $360 FOR FEB/MAR 19 SESSION.
After the initial eight week session, an actor may continue to next session, space providing, or have “drop-in” status for any single workout for the price of $60.00 to be paid at start of that day’s workout. Note: Drop in status with teacher consult.

Bring a short monologue to the first session you feel would make a good audition piece. Do not prepare or memorize.
Dress in comfortable clothes for ease of movement.
